Day 1 – Arrival in Venice
Welcome to Venice, the fabled city of canals. After arriving at Venice or Treviso airport, check in to your centrally located hotel. The evening offers time to relax or take your first stroll along the canals. Consider joining a local guide for a cicchetti tasting tour through hidden bacari—Venice’s traditional wine bars—sampling small plates paired with regional wines.
Day 2 – Venice & the Lagoon: Secrets Beyond the Postcards
Begin with a guided walking tour through Venice’s most iconic landmarks: St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace, and the basilica with its golden mosaics. Then, escape the crowds on a private boat to the colorful island of Burano, known for its lace-making traditions and rainbow-painted homes. Discover a side of Venice many travelers miss—authentic, artistic, and quietly magical.
Day 3 – Padua & the Brenta Villas
Today’s journey leads along the Brenta Riviera, once the summer retreat of Venice’s nobility. Visit Villa Pisani, an opulent estate filled with frescoes and surrounded by manicured gardens. Continue to Padua, a city of science and spirituality. Explore the historic university (where Galileo once taught), visit the Basilica of St. Anthony, and enjoy free time in lively café-filled piazzas.
Day 4 – Palladio’s Vicenza & Alpine Bassano del Grappa
Explore the legacy of Andrea Palladio in Vicenza, where grand Renaissance palaces and the stunning Teatro Olimpico showcase architectural harmony. In the afternoon, travel to Bassano del Grappa, a charming riverside town with Alpine charm. Walk the wooden Ponte degli Alpini, learn about the distillation of Italy’s famous grappa, and perhaps sample a glass yourself.
Day 5 – Verona’s Romance & Lake Garda Escape
Journey to Verona, a city of timeless beauty and Shakespearean fame. Tour the Roman Arena, admire Juliet’s balcony, and wander through elegant squares. In the afternoon, drive to Lake Garda for a scenic lakeside excursion. The town of Sirmione offers a fairy-tale castle, thermal waters, and peaceful lakeside promenades.
Day 6 – Optional Valpolicella Wine Day
Today is yours to relax or take an optional excursion into the nearby Valpolicella region. Visit small, family-run wineries to taste Amarone, one of Italy’s richest red wines, and enjoy a farm-to-table lunch amid rolling vineyard hills. Alternatively, enjoy a free day in Verona or the surrounding countryside.
Day 7 – The Prosecco Hills & Medieval Cittadella
End your journey with a full-day tour through the Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive through lush, vineyard-covered slopes, stopping in Valdobbiadene and other wine towns to sample DOCG prosecco. Visit the walled town of Cittadella, where you can walk atop the ancient ramparts for sweeping views of the Veneto plains.
Day 8 – Departure from Treviso or Venice
After breakfast, transfer to Treviso or Venice airport for your departure. As you leave behind the soft light of the lagoon and the whispering vines of the Prosecco hills, you carry with you a deep appreciation for Italy’s quieter, more intimate beauty.
